Recent Achievements

  • Secured funding through the EU Phare Partnership Programme for a land stewardship advisory service in collaboration with the RSPB, for protection of IBAs
  • Published a new national IBA inventory with financial support from the British Know-How Fund and the Hungarian Central Environmental Fund
  • Secured funding and began field implementation of national species action plans for 13 regionally or globally threatened species
  • Established a new common bird monitoring scheme: 207 participants covered 265 randomly selected squares
  • Continued the Phare Partnership Programme for land stewardship advisory service and began an EU enlargement project in collaboration with the RSPB
  • Celebrated MME's 25th anniversary and nominated the White Stork as bird of the year
  • Increased membership of the society to more than 6,000
